The Coca-Cola Brand – Astrology View

Could Coca-Cola have an astrological chart? What could it tell us about the brand and its mission? What astrological features could have one of the most famous brands in the world?

As stated in previous articles, the most accepted chart for a brand’s birth is the first time the final product was showed to the market or sold. Furthermore, if the company recognizes this date as its official birthday then we have enough testimonies to say that that particular day is the “one”. The corresponding astrological chart should represent important values of the brand, the name, the colours, the logo and the history of the main product.

However, likewise many brands it is hardly impossible to find the exact time of the first ever sell or presentation of the product. In those cases, some features of the astrological chart – like the Ascendant or houses – are very difficult to identify with certainty or should be accounted with much caution.

In such cases – known date but unknown birth time – it is normal to use the most symbolic chart of the day. That chart could be one of the following:

  1. The rising Sun chart (beginning of the day)
  2. The celestial midday chart (Sun at the zenith)
  3. The one most compatible with the founder’s natal chart
  4. The one that more clearly corresponds to the brand’s logo, colours, name and values
  5. The one that fits better the brand’s history

THE BIRTH OF COCA-COLA

The product that has given the world its best-known taste was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886. Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for Coca-Cola, and carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs’ Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced “excellent” and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink.

John Pemberton was a confederate colonel wounded in the American Civil War. He became addicted to morphine and began a quest to find a substitute for the problematic drug.

Coca-cola was initially sold as a patent medicine that could cure morphine addiction, indigestion, nerve disorders, headaches, and impotence.

Since it is unusual that a pharmacy was opened during the night in those times we consider most likely that Coca-Cola was first sold and tasted during daytime, between the rising and setting of the sun.

The product that has given the world its best-known taste was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

A TAURUS SUN

Regardless of the accurate time Coca-cola was born with a Taurus Sun and Venus in Aries. This is very appropriate for a red brand of a sweet drink with a bottle whose shape resembles a female body.

Taurus brands have missions of either pleasure, beauty or money. Any brand of a tasteful drink or food is leveraged when a strong planet or the Sun is located in the zodiacal sign of Taurus. Amazingly, this is the case of Coca-cola.

Sweetness and sugar are ruled by Venus, whilst acidity and sparkles are ruled by Mars. So, it is very suited to have Venus in a fiery sign of Mars, Aries, for such a soda drink.

But how do we find the “drink” element in this chart? Shouldn’t there be strong water signs?

As a matter of fact, Saturn and the Moon are in Cancer, a water sign. Saturn rules corporations and also the physical body of the brand. The Moon in Astromarketing rules the consumers and their needs – the clients and the people.

When well placed the Moon suggests popularity of the brand.

And so the Moon in Cancer is very well placed. In Classical Astrology it is called a Moon in its domicile. Moreover the Moon is heading towards a harmonious relation (a sextile aspect) with the Sun, which is also a very fortunate testimony for the brand.

Mercury is in Aries, an indication of a strong communication.

Mars and Jupiter are placed in Virgo, positions that are related to the pursuit of quality and to the chemical nature of the product.

Mars rules strengths and battles of the brand. Jupiter rules the morals, beliefs and luck of the brand, but also marketing strategies. Jupiter retrograde in Virgo is not so fortunate and it might suggest that the core beliefs of the brand are inverted.

This is not a shock, since it is well known that the product is not proven to be particularly healthy. On the contrary, most studies suggests it could be addictive and provoking many other effects such as obesity.

What is most striking about Coca-Cola is that despite not being a healthy product it remains for 130 years as one of the most famous brands in the world.

According to Forbes magazine it was still the 5th most valuable brand in the world in 2017 and the only non-technological brand in the top 8.

But could we then have a more accurate chart for Coca-Cola?

COCA-COLA’S ASTROLOGICAL CHART

Noon chart for Coca-Cola

8 May 1886, 11:56 am

Atlanta, Georgia

For many reasons, the noon chart might stand for the official chart of Coca-Cola.

The Leo sign is rising and the brand is mainly red. The mission of the company is easily connected to this fiery sign and especially the words “body, spirit, optimism and happiness”

“Our mission is:

  • To refresh the world in mind, body and spirit
  • To inspire moments of optimism and happiness through our brands and actions
  • To create value and make a difference.”

The same applies to the values of the company, where leadership, passion and integrity top as the strongest ones.

Fixed signs (Leo-Taurus) in the main angles are also very compatible with a brand that has been leader for a very long time. These signs resonate also very well with the sensuous and hand-written font of the logo.

Scorpio in the 4th House, of the father, and its ruler Mars in Virgo in the 1st house are consistent testimonies to symbolize the founder: the wounded colonel in war searching for a medicine, John Pemberton. It is important to say that this pharmacist died of stomach cancer only two years after releasing Coca-Cola.

The double bodied name (Coca-Cola) with the letter “C” is also appropriate for a position of Mars in the house of identity in a double-bodied sign, Virgo. The letter “C” in astromarketing is more related to Mars than any other planet in my opinion.

The red planet in the first house makes also sense with the red colour of the logo, never changed.

Leo rising, the strength of Mars and the culmination of the Sun are also compatible with Coca-cola sponsorships: many sports and musical events. The brand is the longest continuous corporate partner of the Olympic Games.

The singer, model and actress Hilda Clark was the first celebrity to be Coca-cola’s face in advertising. Being a Taurus brand this should have been a very effective marketing at the time, since this sign rules singing and beauty.

The most famous movie starring Coca-cola was The Gods Must Be Crazy. In this funny story, a bushman tribe in South Africa is surprised by a bottle of Coca-Cola falling out of the sky. Rapidly, the bottle becomes a motive of disputes and so the chief decides to travel the world to throw the bottle away forever.

Interestingly, this comedy is symbolically represented in Coca-Cola’s chart – by the squares of the Moon to Mercury and Saturn to Venus – and also its timing of release: the year 1980. It corresponds to the symbolic rise of the Sun (if we move one degree for one year).

CONCLUSION

Coca-cola is much more than a product or a sparkling beverage. It conveys a whole world of experiences and excitement and that is why it is still such a valuable brand.

An astro-marketeer could enhance that pleasure, excitement and leadership values are the strongest for this brand. A more close connection to female athletes or singers as well as to musical festivals should be recommended.

The astrological chart of Coca-Cola is a remarkable case-study of astrobranding.
