Could Facebook have an astrological chart? What could it tell us about the brand and its mission? What astrological features could have one of the most famous companies in the world?

As stated in previous articles, the most accepted chart for a brand’s birth is the first time the final product was showed or sold to the market. Furthermore, if the company recognizes this date as its official birthday then we have enough testimonies to say that that particular day is the “one”. The corresponding astrological chart should represent important values of the brand, its name, colours, logo and history of the main product.
However, like many brands it is hardly impossible to find the exact time of the first ever sell or presentation of a product. In those cases, some features of the astrological chart – like the Ascendant or houses – are very difficult to identify with certainty or should be accounted with much caution.
In such cases – known date but unknown birth time– it is normal to use the most symbolic chart of the day. That chart could be one of the following:
- The rising Sun chart (beginning of the day)
- The celestial midday chart (Sun at the zenith)
- The one most compatible with the founder’s natal chart
- The one that more clearly corresponds to the brand’s logo, colours, name and values
- The one that fits better the brand’s history
THE BIRTH OF FACEBOOK
The facebook website was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg in Harvard, Massachussets. It was an immediate success. No exact time was recorded. Most available information – including the movie – point out to the site being launched in the “afternoon”. The university journal – the Harvard Crimson – in a news posted in February 9 states Zuckerberg launched the project “last wednesday afternoon”.

It was initially founded as a non-official Harvard University website for social network. Students who signed up for the service could post photographs of themselves and personal information about their lives, such as their class schedules and clubs they belonged to.
Its popularity increased, and soon students from other prestigious schools, such as Yale and Stanford universities, were allowed to join. By June 2004 more than 250,000 students from 34 schools had signed up, and that same year major corporations such as the credit-card company MasterCard started paying for exposure on the site
In a few years it became the largest and most influential social network in the world.
Facebook and Zuckerberg faced many law suits since the beginning the most famous being the case of the Winklevoss brothers who claimed the idea was stolen from them.
More recently, in 2018, the Facebook was accused of not supervising political manipulation with fake news and also of unlawfully sharing private information of the users to companies.
Undoubtedly, Facebook is a global phenomenon and probably the strongest one in the last fifteen years. A simple idea that probably changed social interaction forever.
AN AQUARIUS SUN
Facebook was born with an Aquarius Sun. Its traditional ruler, Saturn, was in Cancer and its modern ruler, Uranus, in Pisces – both water signs. Henceforth, a cold colour like blue seems appropriate to be chosen for the logo.
The astrological Sun of a brand is always a very important indicator of its essence, power and identity. In the case of Facebook, the Aquarius Sun is the perfect symbol to represent an internet service whose mission is to foster social interaction. Those are Aquarius traits, an Air sign ruling new technologies, internet and large groups. Accepting social differences, communicating at a large scale and building a spirit of community are all Aquarian goals.
Both Saturn and the Moon in Cancer are consistent with the huge popularity of Facebook and the indirect goal of users feeling they belong to a great family.
Brands born with a domiciled Moon in Cancer are more likely to fulfil basic needs of their clients and, therefore, to achieve an increased notoriety. The Moon rules clients, the public and their needs in general.
The position of Venus in Piscis is also significant. This is the classical Exaltation of this planet, meaning that love and affection are deeply enhanced. As a matter of fact, one of the first intentions of Facebook was to promote connectivity and dates between the students.
Mercury is in Capricorn symbolizing a very structured network. Mars is in Taurus meaning that the “struggle” of the brand is to increase the pleasure of the users and, at the same time, stabilizing the platform.
Jupiter is in Virgo retrograde, a delicate position for the social values and beliefs of the brand that might be inverted in some ways. Many people say that Facebook as transformed social life for the worse being a weapon of public manipulation.
However, another very interesting position in the conjunction of the Sun to Neptune, and indication of ideals of social cooperation.
THE NOON CHART
Since there are no public references of a particular hour when the website was first put online it is legitimate to use the astrological chart of the Facebook’s first afternoon: when the Sun is on the Midheaven, at celestial midday. This can be regarded as the best candidate for Facebook’s official natal chart.

This chart has a Gemini-Aquarius signature which fits very well with both the name and nature of Facebook. The human element in Astrology is represented by Air signs. Gemini in particular rules books, students and communications.
The double word (Face Book) is typical of a double-bodied sign like Gemini.
Planet Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, is located in the house of Universities (the 9th) and in the sign of Capricorn, a sign of traditions and success. In fact, Harvard is one the most prestigious universities in the world.
In this chart, Venus is in the house of groups and friends – the 11th – and the Moon in the house of students and communications – the 3rd. These positions make sense with the nature of the project, built around students and groups.
Jupiter is in a house of fun – the 5th – and Mars in a house of loneliness, the 12th. This former astrological position symbolizes most probably great challenges and strengths of Facebook: to overcome the feelings of loneliness of their clients but, at the same time, avoiding to create emotional emptiness and also behind the scenes manipulation.
Saturn in Cancer in the 2nd house is a position that warns that the economic success of Facebook might not be constant but seasonal. No formalities inside the company should be enhanced but the spirit of a stable big family.
The retrogrations and traditional debilities of the social planets – Jupiter and Saturn – are a surprise that should make us rethink the classical interpretations of the planets in a modern (and marketing) perspective. Also the Sun and Mars are in their exiled signs. These are typical positions representing “exiled” persons, outcasts and rebels. But what made Mark Zuckerberg build this site if it wasn’t this very nature?
Companies that have exiled planets in their charts can probably be the ones most suited to reach long distance markets and shake the establishment, breaking the borders of their own countries.
CONCLUSION
Like many other brands the Facebook’s astrological chart truly represents the nature and mission of this project: “building a community, connecting friends and family, bringing the world closer together”.
The strength of the Moon and Venus represent this love and bonding opportunities.
However, the “exiled” trait of the chart suggests that the company could be stronger in social solidarity and enhancing that excluded people – such as poor people or poor countries – should be given more attention.
Quoting Zuckerber’s words: “Facebook’s goal is to make sure that every single person has a sense of purpose and community.”
